Biography

I hail all the way back from Texas; the soaring green trees and wide-open spaces taught me to let my dreams grow as big as they could. A twist of fate brought me to North Carolina at three years ago, and I fell in love with the colors, the seasons, and the people who showed up and filled my life with joy. Making life into a work of art is my highest passion, and that passion comes through in writing, running, an amazing partner, and a ton of puppy smooches. A long career in coffeehouses taught me the dignity in truly listening to people and meeting them where they are with compassion and service. Now embarking on an exciting career with Brand Fuel, I cannot wait to make connections, deepen friendships, learn everything I can, and support the awesome new team which welcomed me in. They gave me a desk, y’all: let’s do this.

Pet Peeves: When people aren’t outraged at Danaerys’ ending.

Favorite Quote: “The best thing for being sad is to learn something.”- Merlin, The Once and Future King

Childhood Heroes: David Levithan, for helping me believe I would one day find my tribe (and I did), and Neil Gaiman, for peeling back the world we know, and showing that the monsters under the bed are people, too.

Favorite Bands: Florence + the Machine, Fleetwood Mac, Sigur Rós, The Flaming Lips, The Weepies

What I want to be when I grow up: A writer, one who tells honest stories that people can believe in.

What I do when no one is looking: Give my dog a “go away for a bit” bone, fill a bath with Epsom salts, and watch youtube videos of my favorite authors. And drag queens.

Favorite Book: The Golden Compass/The Bone Clocks (You can’t make me choose.)

Favorite Song: “Hunger” by Florence + the Machine

Celebrity Crush: Maria Bamford. There can be no one around whom it is safer to be a little crazy.
